Welcome to Poltergeist, a personal tribute to Tidus from Final Fantasy X, my favorite character from my favorite game, and well, anything ever. Tidus is a character I’m able to relate a lot to. His story is tragic, it’s haunting, and just plain cool, and I found myself having a lot to say about our resident Blitzball player.

I am going to tell you something that might shock you: I began Final Fantasy X six or seven years ago, and in my first play-through, I hated Tidus. I found him incredibly annoying, and I know this might sound weird, but he reminded me too much of things in my life I was trying really hard to forget about.

Why this fan site, then? Well obviously I feel different about him now. I’m a lot more comfortable with myself and my family, and it’s easier to talk about my past (as you may have noticed). When I played Final Fantasy X a second time, I really felt for Tidus, but more than that, I empathized with him. I guess that’s what drew me to him, and I guess that’s the reason behind this site. I was hoping by being able to truly relate to Tidus, I’d be able to offer something interesting that you haven’t seen in a site to him yet. I really hope I didn’t disappoint.

This site is more personal than most sites out there. I focused on my own experiences in relation to Tidus, and my own perception of his character. Because of that, if you go into my site looking to find dry details on Tidus’ character, you’re going to be disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, there is a lot of information on Tidus’ personality, story, and relationships, and I’m going to keep working on offering more, but that is not and will never be the main focus of this site. I guess I feel the game should introduce Tidus to fans. I just want to show others how I see him.

My past and our similarities aside, Tidus is a really interesting character. He spooked me a little at first when I found out what he was and still does sometimes now, but if you know me you know that that’s half the reason I like him. Tidus’ story reminds me of movies like The Lottery, The Wicker Man, and Identity, and that’s an incredibly awesome thing.

Also, not to make myself sound more morbid than I already sound, tragedies fascinate me.  I love the tragic element of Tidus’ relationship with Yuna. Yuna is just a part of Tidus’ story, but that’s what is great about it: his story is nothing more or less than an intricate weave of many really awesome pieces. He’s my favorite character from anything ever, and after reading this site, you should understand why.

Recently, I’m trying to make this site more dynamic, and encourage visitor interaction. A comment form is on every page now. When reading, if there is something you feel strongly about, or disagree with me on, I hope you post your own thoughts and opinions! I welcome any feedback or comments you have on the site.  I’d love to hear what you think! Enjoy your stay.

As of May 13th, 2014, Poltergeist is home to the Tidus fanlisting! Its purpose is to list fans of Tidus from all over the world. If you are a fan of Tidus, click here to join the list of fans. Let’s make the fan list huge! You don’t have to have a website to join; just a love for this great character.

I have always loved ffx since I first played it in middle school… The love between tidus and yuna is something I haven’t forgot till this day. I just completed ffx HD on the vita and I still find myself in tears at the end. Tidus is the most unique character that has ever been created. His problems with his parents and his attitude of writing his own story. Just amazing and amazing shirne to tidus! You have by support. My next two tattoos are ffx related. The entire lake scene on my back and maybe a zanarkand abes tat or the brotherhood sword stuck in the ground next to yunas rod.
